Oak Cliff is where Dallas goes for tacos — walk-up windows that have been open since the ’90s, trompo spits that run past midnight, and a couple of newer Mexico City–style kitchens on West Davis. Every spot below is a real, listed business on Oak Cliff America with an address you can drive to. Nine picks, grouped by how you want to eat.

Confirmed against a source read that day: the addresses of Tacos Puro DF and 24 Seven Tacos, ordering hours for Fito’s and Tacos Puro DF, El Patrón’s hours and phone, and El Si Hay’s phone and prices. 1. Taqueria El Si Hay

The walk-up stand at Davis and Llewellyn that Oak Cliff has lined up at since the late 1990s. No dining room: you order at the window and eat on the hood of your car. Bistec, chorizo, barbacoa, al pastor, lengua, pollo and fajita on warm corn tortillas, with a red salsa regulars talk about, plus elotes and aguas frescas. Cash only (there’s an ATM at the gas station next door).
Order: the beef fajita tacos with the extra-spicy red salsa (The Infatuation’s pick) · Price: everything $3 and under, per the Dallas Observer’s best-tacos list · Hours: Sun–Thu 10am–10pm, Fri–Sat until 11pm as listed in September — not re-confirmed in October; the Observer’s advice is to go early, before the elote sells out.
2. Fito’s Tacos de Trompo

Oak Cliff’s trompo specialist. This West Clarendon location is store #1 of a chain that has grown to eleven taquerías across the Metroplex, all built on the same original marinade: pork sliced to order off the vertical spit onto small corn tortillas. There’s a second Oak Cliff store at 3113 W. Davis.
Order: tacos de trompo · Best for: trompo after 10 PM · Hours: Sun–Thu 10am–12am, Fri–Sat until 1am as listed in September; its delivery page, read October 10, takes orders from 10:15am to 11:45pm and past midnight on Friday and Saturday.
3. Tacos Puro DF

“Puro DF” means pure Mexico City, and that’s the promise: capital-city street tacos, quesadillas and tortas made from scratch with bold, street-style seasoning rather than Tex-Mex. Out on West Davis past Hampton, with delivery on the major apps.
Order: street tacos, or breakfast tacos — bistec con huevo and chorizo con huevo are $2 to $2.50 on its catering menu, which also lists tamales and menudo · Hours: its ordering page, read October 10, lists 9am–11pm every day; tacospurodfdallas.com has the rest.

4. 24 Seven Tacos

Exactly what the name promises: a taquería on South Marsalis, a block south of Jefferson, that never closes. It’s the Oak Cliff stop for birria — birria tacos, birria quesadillas and a birria ramen that regulars order at 2 AM — plus fajita tacos, elote and nachos. Counter service and delivery on the usual apps.
Order: birria tacos or the birria ramen · Best for: after everything else has closed · Hours: open 24 hours as listed in September — the address was re-confirmed October 10, the hours were not, so call before a 3 AM drive. Own this place? Claim the listing and post them yourself.
5. El Patrón Tacos y Tortas al 100

At the corner of North Cockrell Hill and the I-30 frontage road, on the western edge of Oak Cliff. Tacos and big tortas “al 100,” plus quesadillas and plates; it’s on the delivery apps and is a regular stop for the west Oak Cliff and Cockrell Hill crowd. It opens at 7 AM every day, which makes it the early-morning pick on this list.
Order: a torta “al 100” · Best for: tacos before work · Hours: a directory page read October 10 lists 7am–9pm Sunday to Thursday and 7am–10pm Friday and Saturday — an hour earlier on weeknights than this guide said in September, so call before a late run.

6. Del Sur Tacos

A sit-down taquería on East Jefferson, a few blocks from Bishop Arts, known for its mulitas — tortilla-and-cheese sandwiches griddled around carne asada or pastor — which the Dallas Observer singled out in its review. Street tacos are the other half of the menu. There’s a second location in McKinney, but this Jefferson spot is the original. D Magazine’s dining guide goes further and says the burritos and mulitas are even better than the tacos; it put Del Sur on its 50 Best Restaurants list in 2021 and 2023.

7. El Pueblo Restaurant

New to this list on October 10. An old-school Mexican dining room on East Jefferson, a couple of blocks from Del Sur, that the Dallas Observer includes in its roundup of the best tacos and taquerías in Dallas — it describes hand-painted booths and decor from decades ago, and suggests a horchata alongside. It is a sit-down restaurant with plates and combos rather than a taquería counter: cravedfw’s April 2026 Jefferson Boulevard piece singled out the lengua tacos, gorditas, enchiladas verdes and mole.

8. Donde Los Tacos

Opened in summer 2025 in a former gas station at the Davis and Tyler triangle by husband and wife Martin and Jennifer Reyes — their first restaurant, per CultureMap. Mexico City–style tacos: trompo shaved off the spit, suadero, steak, chorizo, fried shrimp and a vegan pastor, with grilled cebollitas, street corn, breakfast all day and margaritas. A short, focused menu that D Magazine, the Dallas Observer and the Oak Cliff Advocate all covered within weeks of opening.

9. Tacos Sarandeados Juanito

A style you won’t find on most Oak Cliff menus: tacos sarandeados, grilled over the flame so the meat and melted cheese pick up a smoky char, and tacos rojos — crisp red-tortilla tacos with meat and potato, topped with lettuce and tomato. The hamburguesa norteña is the other thing regulars come for. On West Jefferson.

The La Banqueta that Dallas food writers send people to — Tacos La Banqueta Puro DF — is in East Dallas, on North Carroll Avenue and on Gaston Avenue, and two searches found nothing that confirms a shop at the West Davis address in our directory.
