Welcome to the first edition.
Oak Cliff is not a suburb. It is not a “district” of Dallas. It is a city within a city — 72 square miles of deep-rooted neighborhoods, family-owned taquerias that have been here longer than most of the people reading this have been alive, art galleries in converted houses, barbershops where the conversation is as good as the cut, and a skyline that belongs to us, not downtown.
That’s what this directory is about. Not SEO. Not ad inventory. A real map of a real place.
We launched a few months ago with a simple idea: Oak Cliff deserved a business directory that actually belonged to Oak Cliff. Not Yelp. Not Google. Ours.
Since then, 2,573 businesses have been listed. 36 guides and articles have been published. And we’re just getting started.
By the Numbers: Where We Are
2,573 businesses. That’s the headline. But the breakdown tells the real story:
- Restaurants & Food: 12 guides and counting. From the taco joints on Jefferson to the Bishop Arts spots making national lists — this is our deepest category for a reason.
- Barbershops & Salons: 5 guides. One of the most competitive and personal businesses in Oak Cliff. People here are loyal to their barber the way they’re loyal to their family.
- Home Services: Growing. Oak Cliff has more 1940s-1970s housing stock than any other part of Dallas. That means contractors, plumbers, electricians, and roofers who know how to work on old houses.
- Fitness & Wellness: We’ve covered the gyms. More coming.
- Shopping & Retail: From vintage on Davis to boutiques in Bishop Arts — Oak Cliff shops differently than the rest of Dallas, and that’s a good thing.
What We’re Reading
Three pieces from the archive that hold up:
➤ Best BBQ in Oak Cliff — Top 5 Smoke Joints You Need to Try

➤ Bishop Arts District Guide: Restaurants, Shops & Things to Do
The most written-about neighborhood in Oak Cliff, but this guide is organized by someone who actually walks these blocks.
➤ 4th of July in Oak Cliff 2026: Fireworks, Festivals & Where to Watch
Yes, it’s June. But Oak Cliff plans ahead. Kiest Park, the Texan, and a few surprises.
What’s Next
We’re building this one business at a time. If you own a business in Oak Cliff — or know someone who does — submit a free listing. It takes 60 seconds. No upsells, no hidden fees, no “claim your page” bait-and-switch.
Featured listings are $29/month for businesses that want to stand out. That pays for this directory to exist. That’s the whole model.
Next week: a deep dive on the restaurants of Jefferson Boulevard — the most underrated food street in Dallas.

P.S. Found something we missed? A new business opening? An old one closing? Tell us. This directory is only as good as what you share.
